Raymond Peynet was the most popular illustrator in France in the 20th century, and has several museums in France and Japan. He depicts the love between lovers, always surrounded by small animals, trees and flowers. Peynet's works convey messages of love and peace, and empathy with small animals and plants leads to environmental protection. A sculpture of lovers by Peynet is placed in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park as a symbol of world peace. This print was produced in France as part of a series in 1985. It is of course new. It has sold out in France, and only second-hand copies are available on the market. For information on Peynet's museums, please see the following website.

[Work description]

Raymond Peynet's comment on this painting is "The weather forecast says that rain from the weeping willows will envelop them." This park seems to be full of weeping willows. Weeping willows are lined up as far as the eye can see. On the park path, there are iron chairs, which are found in every park in France. Under the willows in the foreground, a couple is cuddling up together. An angel is holding a black umbrella over them. Small birds are sheltering from the rain under the umbrella, on their arms, shoulders, and at their feet. People are also holding black umbrellas among the other willows. In Peynet's world of weeping willows, lovers and small birds are enjoying shelter from the rain.

Gallery Adeka Yasuhiro Takeda

Around 1992, Galerie Adesaka purchased 5,000 copies from Alexandre Tocart, the nephew of Raymond Peynet's publisher Muret (who collaborated with Raymond Peynet to produce prints by Raymond Peynet that Raymond Peynet personally signed), and the representative of the French distributor of those prints (Editions des Cercles).

Yasuhiro Takeda, the owner of Galerie Adeka, graduated from the University of Montpellier in the south of France, and Alexandre Tokar was also from Montpellier and was his junior at the university. Galerie Adeka began to focus on selling Raymond Peynet prints, starting with their friendship with Alexandre Tokar.

Galerie Adeka ran the Gallery Vingt de France at Karuizawa Prince Hotel for 20 years from 1995 to 2015, and is therefore on friendly terms with the Peynet Museum, also located in Karuizawa. To promote exchanges between the Karuizawa Peynet Museum and the Raymond Peynet and Humorous Artists Museum in Antibes, southern France, Galerie Adeka was sent by the Karuizawa Peynet Museum to continue to exchange with the Peynet Museum in Antibes and Raymond Peynet's daughter, Annie Peynet.

Raymond Peynet's world of painting depicts a paradise where small animals and plants happily coexist, with the love between lovers at its center. In the 21st century, where environmental destruction and war continue, Raymond Peynet's paintings of love and peace seem to be a message to the modern age. By coming into contact with Raymond Peynet's world surrounded by peace, love and gentle nature, I hope that you will develop peace and love in your heart and a heart that cherishes nature, animals and plants, our fellow members of the earth.
