Collection: Claude Mars

Claude Mars, a female artist, was born in France in 1942. After studying painting at studios in the Montparnasse district and the Place des Vosges in Paris, she made her debut as a painter. She was discovered by Galerie La Grande Chaumière and signed an exclusive contract with them. Since 1980, she has become known around the world as a flower painter. A lover of nature, Mars expresses beautiful flowers on lithographs using her own unique colors and techniques. Deeply impressed by Oriental art, she stayed in art villages in India and Nepal several times and was greatly influenced by them. After returning to France, Mars not only participated in numerous events both domestically and internationally as a painter, but also worked as a stage designer.

Mars's warm and rich sense of color that she has today was cultivated during her time in Asia. She was influenced by the traditional art of "batek (wax-resist dyeing)" which she learned with great interest during her time in Asia, and the technique is utilized in her printmaking. She is also familiar with yoga, and her deep spirituality also influences her paintings. This influence is evident in her style, in which movement is solidified into an instant and finished as if it were an eternal symbol. She has said that "art is creation, and yoga is completion," and it is likely that the deep spirituality and concentration of yoga help her complete the creations that she derives from inspiration, the source of her creativity.
