Michel Margrey was born and raised in Granville, close to Mont Saint-Michel. He started painting at a young age and became famous for his landscape paintings, regularly holding exhibitions at galleries in Paris. He was influenced by the post-impressionist Pissarro and others. He is considered a realistic impressionist painter. He is popular for his lyrical paintings of the seaside of his hometown Brittany, the scenery of Paris, and Venice. His exhibitions are held regularly at high-end galleries in Paris and other French galleries. In the 2000s, he was invited by Galerie Azteca to hold exhibitions in famous department stores such as Mitsukoshi and Daimaru, and was a success in Japan.
