マニュエル・リュバロ　はブルターニュ、プロヴァンス、ベニス、パリなどの風景を描く。その風景は現実と幻想の狭間を揺れ動く。ベニスはパリなどを描く場合は、その幻想が現在より中世などの過ぎ去った時代に接近する。突然、中世が現代の空間に割り込んできた様な不思議な感覚にとらわれる。対立する要素を同一のキャンヴァスに調和的に共存させるイメージ力と手法は並外れた才能に裏付けされている。

この作品はフランス西部の大西洋に突き出したブルターニュ半島の海沿いの風景を描いている。手前に水路か川のような水面を描かれたいる。少し寂し気な海辺の風景だが、純粋な黄色が華やかさを与え眼に飛び込んでくる。
