Artwork Description

"Tridim" is a representative silkscreen print that vividly showcases Victor Vasarely's exploration of visual illusions and spatial composition.

The title "Tridim" is reminiscent of "Three Dimensions" and succinctly expresses the three-dimensional visual space presented in this work. Through the regularly arranged, colorful squares and their subtle changes, a three-dimensional illusion is created, making the flat surface appear to float, expand, and draw the viewer inward.

The intricate composition of color planes creates different spatial impressions depending on the viewer's perspective, imparting movement and tension to the static image. Vasarely created a visual experience that shakes perception itself through the interaction of geometry and color.

This work, included in the "Gordes" album which summarized Vasarely's research results at the Château de Gordes in Southern France, is a highly perfected realization of his Op Art theory.

"Tridim," where logical structure and vivid colors merge, is an exceptionally accomplished work that symbolizes the innovativeness of visual art pioneered by Vasarely.
