Born in 1885 in Gradzhysk, Ukraine. Her father, Ilinichna Stern, was a lawyer, and she was adopted by her father Henri Terk, who was a painting collector
1903-1904: Studied at Trie Schmidt-Reuter in Karlsruhe, Germany
1905- Focused on the Académie de la Palette in Paris, painting portraits and Fauvist nudes
1908 Her first solo exhibition was held at "Galerie de la Renaissance" in Paris. Her colorful works were exhibited, marking an important step in her career as an artist.
1910 Married painter Robert Delaunay. Together with her husband, she embarked on a path of poetic abstract art
1913-1935: Basically dedicated to interior design and fashion (cushions, cardigans, dresses, lampshades, etc.) in the same style as painting. She also opened a shop within the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts (Art Deco) with couturier Jacques Heim, and opened her decorative arts shop, Case Sonia, in Paris
1930 - Delone joined "Abstraction-Création", a group that defended non-figurative art.
1935-1937 Sonia Delaunay returned to painting, creating wall panels.
1942: Her husband Robert Delaunay passed away. Sonia Delaunay went into hiding in Grasse until the end of the war.
1946 She exhibited at the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles as a co-founder with the Concrete Art Group. Sonia Delaunay founded the Espace Group. Robert and Sonia Delaunay influenced each other in painting, printmaking, mosaics, stained glass, carpets, and tapestries, but each produced highly original art that blossomed with their individual personalities and talents.
1979 Passed away in Paris.
