【Artwork Description】

This piece, part of the "din series," is characterized by its densely abstract expression, where fine splashes of paint cover the entire surface, transitioning from a burning orange at the top to deep and light greens at the bottom. While "flicker of hope" featured an explosive radial composition based on jet black, this work adopts a flowing, vertical composition that evokes natural grass and earth.

In the lower half of the painting, countless flowers, leaves, and vine-like motifs are depicted with white lines, connecting as if plants growing from the ground. Amidst the dense noise of colors, a delicate and figurative sense of life quietly emerges. From the orange space at the top, a white curve gracefully arcs downward, giving the impression of a hand reaching out to the sky, or a plant's tendril striving to reach the heavens from the earth.

The title "reaching hand" is thought to symbolize the white linear drawing that extends vertically through the painting—a movement rooted in the earth yet striving upward towards the warm orange light. Considering the artist's statement about "the noise overflowing in my head," the myriad splashes of color are the very sounds of constantly surging emotions. From this chaos, the will to reach out towards something, or the desire for hope, is quietly expressed through the white linear flowers.

As the artist's comment states, the background was painted solely with bare hands, without brushes. This act of direct physical contact with the canvas conveys the rawness of emotion more directly. While "flicker of hope" was a twinkling light of hope, "reaching hand" can be described as a complementary piece that depicts the active will to reach out and grasp that light.

【Artist's Comment】

This work was created using only bare hands for the background (excluding the line art), without brushes.

Though seemingly abstract at first glance, a closer look reveals houses, flowers, and other things that stir the artist's emotions, creating a "mysterious worldview that oscillates between abstraction and figuration."

The themes are the noises (sounds of emotions) that overflow in the artist's mind when not painting.

Even something negative like "noise" transforms into "sound of thought" through art, becoming a positive presence.

Through my work, I want to convey to viewers the purity and beauty of art that can change even the parts of oneself one dislikes into something loved.
