Raymond Peynet is the most popular illustrator in 20th century France, with multiple museums in France and Japan. His works depict the love of lovers, always surrounded by small animals, trees, and flowers. Peynet's works convey a message of love and peace, and his empathy for small animals and plants leads to environmental protection. In Hiroshima Peace Park, a sculpture of Peynet's lovers is placed as a symbol of world peace. This print was produced in France in a series in 1985. It is, of course, new. It is sold out even in France, and only used items are available on the market. Please refer to the following website for information on Peynet's museums.

  【Artwork Commentary】

A naked blonde woman walks in a small room with an open window. The man, still dressed, is saying something. Just outside the window, a large tree, which always appears in Peynet's paintings, spreads its branches. Among the leaves of the branches, small birds gather on the branches and look into the room. Some birds are flying in a hurry. The woman is sexy and attractive, with her chest and bottom. Perhaps she is attractive even to birds.

So, what kind of relationship do this beautiful nude woman and the dressed man have? The French dislike formality and have no great resistance to being seen naked, so she might be an ordinary office worker? It might be fun to imagine various scenarios and create a story for this painting.

【Galerie Adekat】purchased 5,000 copies around 1992 from Alexandre Tocquard, the nephew of Mr. Mullet, Peynet's publisher (who collaborated with Raymond Peynet to produce Raymond Peynet's prints, which Raymond Peynet personally signed), and the representative of Editions des Cercles, the French distributor of those prints.

Galerie Adekat operated Galerie Vent de France at Karuizawa Prince Hotel for 20 years from 1995 to 2015, establishing a close relationship with the Peynet Museum in Karuizawa. To foster exchange between the Karuizawa Peynet Museum and the Raymond Peynet and Humorous Painters Museum in Antibes, southern France, Galerie Adekat was dispatched by the Karuizawa Peynet Museum and continues to interact with the Peynet Museum in Antibes and Raymond Peynet's daughter, Annie Peynet.

Raymond Peynet's artistic world depicts a paradise where small animals and plants coexist happily, centered on the love of lovers. In this 21st century, plagued by environmental destruction and ongoing wars, Raymond Peynet's paintings of love and peace can be seen as a message for our time. We hope that you will be touched by Raymond Peynet's world of peace, love, and gentle nature, and that it will foster in your heart a sense of peace, love, and the importance of nature, animals, and plants, our companions on Earth.
