【Fisherman of Birds】Explanation video is here→
Raymond Peynet was the most popular illustrator in 20th-century France, with several museums dedicated to his work in France and Japan. His works depict the love between lovers, always surrounded by small animals, trees, and flowers, conveying a message of love and peace, and his empathy for small animals and plants leads to environmental protection. In Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, a sculpture of Peynet's lovers is placed as a symbol of world peace. This print was produced in France in 1985 as part of a series. It is, of course, new. It is sold out even in France, and only used items are available on the market. For information about Peynet's museums, please refer to the following website.

【Work Commentary】
A man is fishing by a stream. His beloved is knitting nearby. There is no fish basket to be found near them. Many small birds are perched on his fishing rod. The birds seem to be cheering him on. Some birds are watching in the water. A peaceful spring day slowly passes for the lovers by the waterside. Small flowers bloom around the lovers, watching over them. In 1974, an animated film titled "Peynet's World Tour of Love" was co-produced by France and Italy, and NTT edited this animated film into a promotional video for television. In that video, the birds perched on the fishing rod flew away one after another. I long for a relaxing day spent by a quiet waterside, fishing. Moreover, it's a happy day with a lovely beloved.

Galerie Adekat purchased 5000 copies around 1992 from Alexandre Tocquard, the nephew of Mr. Muré, the publisher of Raymond Peynet (who collaborated with Raymond Peynet to produce Raymond Peynet's prints, which Raymond Peynet then personally signed) and the representative of the French distributor (Éditions du Cercle) of those prints.

Galerie Adekat operated "Gallery Vent de France" at the Karuizawa Prince Hotel for 20 years, from 1995 to 2015. Due to this, they had a close relationship with the Peynet Museum in Karuizawa. To foster exchange between the Karuizawa Peynet Museum and the Raymond Peynet and Humorous Painters Museum in Antibes, southern France, Galerie Adekat was dispatched by the Karuizawa Peynet Museum and has continued to interact with the Antibes Peynet Museum and Raymond Peynet's daughter, Annie Peynet.
Raymond Peynet's world of painting depicts a paradise where small animals and plants coexist joyfully, centered around the love of lovers. In the 21st century, with its ongoing environmental destruction and wars, Raymond Peynet's paintings of love and peace are believed to be a message for our time. We hope that by experiencing Raymond Peynet's world surrounded by peace, love, and gentle nature, you will cultivate a heart that values peace, love, and our fellow inhabitants of Earth: nature, animals, and plants.
