Raymond Peynet is the most popular illustrator in 20th century France, with several museums in France and Japan. His works depict the love between lovers, with small animals, trees, and flowers always surrounding them. Peynet's works convey messages of love and peace, and his empathy for small animals and plants leads to environmental protection. In Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, a sculpture of Peynet's lovers is placed as a symbol of world peace. This print was produced in France in 1985 as part of a series. Of course, it is new. It is sold out even in France, and only used items appear on the market. Please refer to the following website for information on Peynet's museums and more.

【Work Description】

Lovers are sitting on a swing covered with leaves, suspended from a giant fish airship with sleepy eyes. The woman is on the man's lap, holding the swing with one hand. The man is holding the woman's waist. Above and below the fish airship, strange birds with wings like fish are flying. They are too plump to be flying fish. Since they are flying over the sea, they might be a mutated type of flying fish. A medieval or early modern sailing ship floats on the sea, and old buildings are depicted on the island. The overall mood is a calm fairy-tale world depicted in a dark blue tone. Yasuhiko Takeda, Galerie Adeka

[Galerie Adeka] purchased 5,000 copies around 1992 from Alexandre Tocard, the nephew of Mr. Mullet, Peynet's publisher (who collaborated with Raymond Peynet to produce Raymond Peynet's prints, which Raymond Peynet then signed by hand), and the representative of Editions du Cercle, the French distributor of the prints.

Galerie Adeka managed Gallery Vent de France at Karuizawa Prince Hotel for 20 years from 1995 to 2015, maintaining a close relationship with the Peynet Museum in Karuizawa. To promote exchange between the Karuizawa Peynet Museum and the Raymond Peynet and Humorous Painters Museum in Antibes, southern France, Galerie Adeka was dispatched by the Karuizawa Peynet Museum and continues to maintain exchanges with the Peynet Museum in Antibes and Raymond Peynet's daughter, Annie Peynet.

Raymond Peynet's artistic world depicts a paradise where small animals and plants happily coexist, centered around the love of lovers. In the 21st century, with environmental destruction and ongoing wars, Raymond Peynet's paintings of love and peace are considered a message to the present day. We hope that by experiencing Raymond Peynet's world surrounded by peace, love, and gentle nature, people will cultivate a heart that values peace, love, and our fellow inhabitants of Earth: nature, animals, and plants.
