Raymond Peynet was the most popular illustrator in 20th-century France, with several museums dedicated to his work in France and Japan. His work depicts the love between lovers, always surrounded by small animals, trees, and flowers. Peynet's works convey messages of love and peace, and his empathy for small animals and plants extends to environmental protection. In Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, a sculpture of Peynet's lovers stands as a symbol of world peace. This print was produced in France in a series in 1985. It is, of course, new. It is sold out in France, with only used items appearing on the market. Please refer to the following site for information on Peynet's museums and more.

【Work Commentary】

It must be late autumn. The leaves of the deciduous trees have fallen, with only a few brown leaves remaining. In the center of the park is an empty outdoor bandstand (kiosk), and scattered empty chairs can be seen. Beyond the kiosk, the park's trees are beautifully colored in golden hues. The small birds, squirrels, and turtles around the lovers are also tinged with autumn colors. In the deserted park, the man sends his beloved a winged message of love in the shape of a burning heart. She spreads her arms to receive his heart. The heart the man throws has wings. Will it fly away if she doesn't catch it firmly? Love may be passionate and intense, but perhaps also fickle, like the changing seasons! If it's not firmly embraced and nurtured, winter will eventually arrive and swallow everything.

Galerie Adekat, Yasuhiro Takeda

Galerie Adekat purchased 5,000 copies around 1992 from Mr. Alexandre Tocart, the nephew of Mr. Mullet, Peynet's publisher (who collaborated with Raymond Peynet to produce his prints, which Raymond Peynet then signed by hand), and the representative of Editions des Cercles, the French distributor of those prints.

Galerie Adekat operated "Galerie Vent de France" at Karuizawa Prince Hotel for 20 years, from 1995 to 2015, and thus had a close relationship with the Peynet Museum in Karuizawa. To promote exchange between the Karuizawa Peynet Museum and the Raymond Peynet and Humorous Painters Museum in Antibes, Southern France, Galerie Adekat was dispatched by the Karuizawa Peynet Museum and continues to interact with the Antibes Peynet Museum and Raymond Peynet's daughter, Annie Peynet.

Raymond Peynet's artistic world depicts a paradise where small animals and plants happily coexist, centered on the love of lovers. In the 21st century, with its environmental destruction and ongoing wars, Raymond Peynet's paintings of love and peace seem to be a message for our time. We hope that by experiencing Raymond Peynet's world of peace, love, and gentle nature, you will cultivate a heart that values peace, love, and our fellow creatures—nature, animals, and plants—on Earth.
