Michel Henry is a painter who mainly depicts flowers and is one of the leading painters in 20th-century French art, along with Buffet and Brasilier. His paintings evoke a sense of happiness, earning him the nickname "Painter of Happiness" in France, and "King of Poppies" in America due to his frequent depiction of poppies. His transparent colors are often compared to jewels: red to rubies, blue to sapphires, green to emeralds, and deep brown to topazes. Michel Henry's paintings are held in the Paris Museum of Modern Art, the Royal Swedish Collection, Monaco, and the Royal Saudi Arabian Collection, among others. Since 1995, Galerie Adeka has been the sole agent for Michel Henry in Japan, organizing exhibitions with Michel Henry's attendance at famous department stores and galleries across Japan. Artwork Description

What a painting! I have never seen a painter express light in such a way. The setting sun dyes the sky and sea orange. The stand where the bouquet rests, and the oranges on it, are all bathed in the red glow of the sunset. Delphiniums, poppies, and roses are all imbued with the colors of the setting sun.
