A representative painter of the School of Paris from Barcelona. While working in Paris, he participated in the Surrealist movement and was deeply influenced by Surrealism, but instead of continuing with its elongated forms, he created his own unique object forms, forming a world of Miro's unique abstract paintings that are musical and joyful. He expanded his activities to include not only paintings and prints but also ceramics, sculptures, and outdoor mural sculptures, achieving worldwide success.
1893 Born in Barcelona, Spain, as the son of a jeweler and watchmaker.
1907 Entered La Llotja School of Art and Design in Barcelona.
1912 Entered Francesc Galí School of Art.
1915 Began painting his own unique portraits and landscapes while influenced by the Fauves in France.
1918 Held a solo exhibition at Dalmau Gallery.
1919 Went to Paris and interacted with Picasso. For the next 20 years, he enjoyed barbeques and Paris.
1920 Participated in the Dada movement.
1923 Began drawing symbolic paintings, moving away from realism.

1947 Visited New York for the first time and created a large mural.

1966 Visited Japan for a large retrospective exhibition in Tokyo and Kyoto.
1967 Miró mural installed at the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
1973 A solo exhibition of sculptures and ceramic works held at the Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul-de-Vence. The "Miró Collection at the Museum of Modern Art, New York" exhibition was held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
1975 The Fundació Joan Miró - Centre for the Study of Contemporary Art, designed by Josep Lluís Sert, opened in Montjuïc Park, Barcelona.
1979 Retrospective exhibition of paintings, sculptures, drawings, and watercolors at the Maeght Foundation.
1983 The "Joan Miró:Anys20" exhibition of paintings from the 1920s was held at the Miró Foundation in Barcelona. Continued at his home in Palma de Mallorca.
The Joan Miró Foundation in Barcelona houses over 10,000 works, and his works are also held in museums worldwide, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
