Joan Miro is a representative painter of the Ecole de Paris. He participated in the Surrealist movement in Paris and was heavily influenced by it, but he did not stay within that framework and created his own object shapes, forming his own musical and fun world of abstract painting. In addition to painting and prints, he expanded his activities to ceramics, sculpture, outdoor sculpture murals, etc., and achieved success all over the world.

The Joan Miró Museum in Barcelona has a collection of over 10,000 works, and his works are included in museums around the world, including the Pompidou Center in Paris and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

 

Born in 1893

1912 Entered the Barcelona School of Fine Arts

In 1919, he went to Paris, where he met Picasso and André Breton, and also had connections with Hemingway and Henry Miller.

He continues his creative activities in his studios in Montroig near Barcelona, ​​Paris and Mallorca.

He died in Mallorca in 1983.
