One of a series of original lithographs produced in a limited edition by the French publisher Fabiani in 1943 during World War II, based on a drawing of a woman and supervised by Matisse.

He painted bright and elegant paintings with simplified flat colors, surfaces, and lines. He was an extremely French painter who aimed to create a comfortable interior rather than expressive art. Born in northern France in 1869. In 1991, he studied at the Académie Julian, an art school in Paris. Initially, he painted with bold colors, which led him, along with Vlaminck and Derain, to be called a Fauvist painter. After that, he showed a tendency towards geometric patterns and the abstraction of objects, and his lines and flat colors became simplified. He worked in painting, printmaking, paper cutting, stained glass, and church interiors. He died in Nice in 1954. His works are housed in world-renowned museums such as the Centre Pompidou (Paris) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York).
