Countless polka dots spread across every corner of the screen, expressing a world where the energy of the universe, cells, or life itself seems to multiply infinitely.

Since childhood, Yayoi Kusama has had visual hallucinations, and the sensation of "seeing everything covered in polka dots" has been a wellspring of her creative work. For her, these polka dots are not mere decoration; they are an important motif symbolizing the essence of life and the vastness of the universe.

In this work, countless circles, predominantly blue, are arranged with varying rhythms of large and small sizes. The circles are independent yet continuous, guiding the viewer's gaze deeper into the canvas. As a result, despite being a two-dimensional work, it conveys an infinitely expanding space and profound depth.

Kusama connects such expressions with the concept of "Self-Obliteration." Within the multitude of repeating polka dots, the individual's existence melts away, the boundaries of the self disappear, and a sense of becoming one with the entire cosmos is shown.

The color blue, among Kusama's works, gives a relatively tranquil and meditative impression. Unlike the intense vitality of her red and yellow works, this piece exudes a calm atmosphere reminiscent of a deep sea or night sky, where infinity and spirituality are more strongly felt.

This work, where countless polka dots cover the entire screen, expressing the proliferation of life and the infinity of the universe, showcases Yayoi Kusama's representative worldview. The repeating dots symbolize the idea of "Self-Obliteration," where the boundaries between self and cosmos disappear, drawing viewers into an endless space.
