Raoul Dufy was a painter who, building on Fauvism, established his own light and decorative style, creating "paintings of happiness." In 20th-century French art, he was unique in pursuing the beauty of color and design, rather than being swept away by avant-garde movements such as Cubism and Surrealism. His influence extended not only to painting but also to decorative arts and design, and he continues to be loved by many today.

1877: Born and raised in Le Havre, France, and attended art school.

1900: Moved to Paris, became interested in Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, and began to interact with artists.

He collaborated with Albert Marquet.

1905: Encountered Matisse's "Luxe, Calme et Volupté" (painted in 1904) and decided to break away from Impressionism.

1907: Painted "Jeanne in the Flowers" with light and bright colors, clarifying Dufy's painting style.

1909: His works became lighter, with added elegance and humor. Produced "Bois de Boulogne."

1910: Showed his talent in illustrating literary works such as Apollinaire's "Le Bestiaire ou Cortège d'Orphée."

1911: Showed interest in decorative arts and founded a textile decoration company with Paul Poiret.

1945: After World War II, his painting reached its final style, characterized by depicting crowds in painting spaces with bright shades of color. He also left behind watercolor works.

1958: Created his masterpiece "The Red Violin."

1952: Received the International Grand Prize for Painting at the 26th Venice Biennale.

1953: Died.
