Raoul Dufy was a painter who, building on Fauvism, established his own light and decorative style, creating "paintings of joy." In 20th-century French art, he was unique in that he did not follow avant-garde movements like Cubism and Surrealism, but rather pursued the beauty of color and design. His influence extended beyond painting to the fields of decorative arts and design, and he is still loved by many today.

1877 Born and raised in Le Havre, France, where he attended art school.

1900 Moved to Paris, became interested in Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, and began to interact with artists.

and collaborated with Albert Marquet.

1905 Encountered Matisse's "Luxe, Calme et Volupté" (painted in 1904) and decided to break away from Impressionism.

1907 Dufy's painting style became clear when he painted "Jeanne in Flowers" with light and bright colors.

1909 His works became lighter, with added elegance and humor. He produced "Bois de Boulogne".

1910 He also displayed his talent in illustrations for literary works such as Apollinaire's "Le Bestiaire ou Cortège d'Orphée".

1911 Showing interest in decorative arts, he founded a textile decoration company with Paul Poiret.

1945 After World War II, his paintings reached their final style, characterized by crowds depicted in a brightly shaded pictorial space. He also left behind watercolor works.

1958 Produced his masterpiece "The Red Violin".

1952 Awarded the International Grand Prize for Painting at the 26th Venice Biennale.

1953 Died.
