A prominent painter of post-World War II France. His melancholic landscapes and figures resonated with the post-war atmosphere, making him a popular artist from his student days. Alongside his contemporaries Michel Henri, Brasilier, Cathelin, Jansem, and Cassignoul, he established a unique painting style characterized by its starkness, somewhat outlined and simplified forms, and monochromatic colors, distinguishing himself among the masters of the French art world.
