A representative painter of post-World War II France. His melancholic landscapes and figures resonated with the post-war atmosphere, making him a popular artist even as a student. Alongside contemporaries such as Michel Henry, Brazilier, Catlin, Jansen, and Kassingnor, he established his unique artistic style with a hard, slightly outlined and simplified form and monochromatic colors, competing with the masters of the French art scene.
