A representative French painter of the post-World War II era. His melancholic landscapes and figures resonated with the post-war atmosphere, and he became a popular artist even as a student. Alongside his contemporaries Michel Henry, Brasilier, Cathelin, Jansem, and Cassigneul, he established a unique painting style characterized by hard, somewhat outlined, simplified forms and monochrome colors, standing out among the masters of the French art world.
