Daniel Couture 's paintings are not just beautiful in their harmony of color. They are vivid, natural depictions, and literary works born from his sensibility and experience, writes French art critic Jean-Roger Vallières. Born in Paris in 1930, after graduating from the elite commercial design school Ecole des Arts Appliques, he continued to paint while working as a designer, and became a popular artist in France and the United States in the 1970s. Since 1990, he has lived in the south of France, his father's hometown, and under the bright light of the south of France, he continued to paint works full of happiness with bright colors. Since 2004, he has held many solo exhibitions in Japan at famous department stores such as Sapporo Mitsukoshi, Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi, and Kobe Daimaru, but in 2012, he was no longer able to distinguish colors due to years of overuse of his eyes. He also stopped painting.
