Daniel Couture's paintings are not just beautiful in their harmony of color. They are vivid, natural depictions, and literary works born from his sensibility and experience, writes French art critic Jean-Roger Vallières. Born in Paris in 1930, after graduating from the elite commercial design school Ecole des Arts Appliques, he continued to paint while working as a designer, and became a popular artist in France and the United States in the 1970s. Since 1990, he has lived in the south of France, his father's hometown, and continued to paint works full of happiness in bright colors under the bright light of the south of France. Since 2004, he has held solo exhibitions in Japan at famous department stores such as Sapporo Mitsukoshi, Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi, and Kobe Daimaru.
