Michel Henry is a painter who mainly paints flowers, and together with Buffet and Brasilier, he is one of the leading painters in the 20th century French art world. His paintings give off a sense of happiness, so he is called the painter of happiness in France, and the king of poppies in America, because he paints many poppies. His transparent colors are likened to jewels. Red is said to be the color of ruby, blue is the color of sawaire, green is the color of emerald, and deep brown is the color of topaz. Michel Henry's paintings are collected by the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, the Swedish royal family, the Principality of Monaco, the Saudi Arabian royal family, and others. Galerie Adeka has been the sole distributor of Michel Henry in Japan since 1995, planning Michel Henry exhibitions in famous department stores and galleries throughout Japan, producing original prints signed by the artist himself, selling painting prints, and managing copyrights.

The French title is Burlats noires , but the Japanese title is Sparkle . Burlat cherries ( black cherries ) are piled up by a window on the riverbank . Outside, the landscape is invaded by strong light and loses its shape. Even the trees outside the window are bathed in intense light and appear transparent. The deep yellow, almost golden yellow, at the top and bottom of the canvas is probably the branches and leaves of the trees, or the grass and shrubs on the bank. Or perhaps the trees hang down close to the ground and their branches and leaves are painted yellow .

Filled with yellow light, beyond the yellow light between the trees is the pink and violet light reflecting off the river, and beyond that, a thin brown line crossing the painted canvas probably indicates the opposite bank. This window, located in front of the drooping tree branches , is probably dim and cool in the shade of the trees. The contrast between the dark color of the pedestal , the calm deep burgundy color of the black cherries , and the world of yellow and pink- violet light outside is striking. This painting depicts light by contrasting the bright light that seems to be in the south of France with the beautifully shining deep burgundy color of Burlat cherries .
