Along with Picasso, he is the founder of Cubism. Born in 1882. From 1897 to 1899, he worked as a painter and studied at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Le Havre at night. From 1902, he attended art school in Paris. From 1909 to World War I, he began collaborating with Picasso and produced many Cubist works. In 1917, he resumed painting, but he moved away from geometric works and began to paint colorful still lifes. He later also produced book illustrations, posters, prints, and jewelry. He died in 1963. His works are in the collections of famous museums around the world, including the Pompidou Museum in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
