Ecole de Paris artists
In early 20th century Paris, artists from all over the world gathered. They interacted beyond nationality, ethnicity, and religion, giving birth to new artistic expressions. This collective term for these international artists is "École de Paris (School of Paris)."
Pablo Picasso from Spain, Marc Chagall from Russia (now Belarus), Amedeo Modigliani from Italy, Jacques Lipchitz from Lithuania, and many other foreign artists gathered in Paris, creating their own unique works while bringing their diverse cultural backgrounds.
They were not a group with a common style, but rather developed diverse artistic expressions, including Cubism, Expressionism, and works with fantastic poetic sentiment. What they had in common, however, was that they pioneered the art of a new era in the free artistic city of Paris.
The painters of the École de Paris had a great influence on the development of 20th-century art and are still highly regarded by museums and collectors worldwide.
On this page, we introduce the works and charms of representative artists of the École de Paris.
