
Karuizawa Peinet Museum
The Karuizawa Peinet Museum was established in 1985. The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Peinet. The Peinet Museum is located in the Karuizawa Taliesin, a comprehensive cultural facility centered around Lake Shiozawa, 2-3 km from Karuizawa Station.

The Peynet Museum is a relocated studio and villa called the Karuizawa Summer House, which was built in 1933 by Antonin Raymond, who came to Japan when the old Imperial Hotel was being built. The building of the Peynet Museum is also a valuable cultural heritage of Karuizawa.

Writers of the Meiji, Taisho and Showa periods superimposed their admiration for the West on the image of Karuizawa, and many writers, politicians and business people lived there. The Karuizawa Kogen Bunko exhibits handwritten manuscripts by writers who lived in Karuizawa, including Kawabata Yasunari, Arishima Takeo, Nogami Yaeko, Hori Tatsuo, Muroo Saisei, Tachihara Michizo and Masamune Hakucho. The Arishima Takeo Villa (Jogetsuan), Hori Tatsuo Mountain Villa and Nogami Yaeko's study have been relocated nearby. You can see the history of culture in harmony with the bright nature of Karuizawa.
